Companies reporting under the CSRD can use high-quality carbon credits, such as Plan Vivo Credits (PVCs), to demonstrate credible climate action and their commitment to carbon removal as part of a robust transition plan.

Plan Vivo credits support a company’s broader climate strategy as beyond value chain mitigation (BVCM). While they are not counted toward near-term emission reduction targets under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), they offer a high-integrity way to take responsibility for residual emissions and contribute to global climate goals., PVCs count as beyond value chain mitigation, and under the carbon removal target (neutralization).
Companies can report the purchase and retirement of Plan Vivo credits as part of their climate action through CDP. These high-integrity credits positively contribute to CDP scores by demonstrating leadership in voluntary climate mitigation.
